Sun protection skincare products for professionals

When it gets warm out, we’re all guilty of wanting to soak up the sun. But there’s also a part of us that knows we shouldn’t do this. ZO® want to protect you from sun exposure. Because in the long term, your health and skin are at risk. ZO® takes a holistic approach to sun protection. We provide scientifically superior sunscreens with the broadest range of protection available, focusing on strengthening the skin’s barrier function to increase its tolerance and ability to repair itself.

ZO® Sun Protection Formulas

All ZO® sunscreen formulas have the following in common:

  • Hydrators to support the skin barrier function by replenishing lipids and hydration that are lost to UV exposure.
  • Antioxidants to support the integrity of DNA and protect against infrared radiation.
  • Anti-irritants to combat chronic and acute inflammation, helping to soothe skin, stabilise melanocytes and prevent hyperpigmentation.
  • Advanced triple-spectrum protection, providing broad-spectrum protection against ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, high-energy visibility (HEV) and IR-A rays.
  • Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation for daily use.

Avoiding Sun Exposure

All sunscreens, regardless of their SPF (10–100), will protect skin for a limited period of time due to photo-instability. A high SPF number is designed to indicate longer protection, but actually creates a false sense of safety, as most sunscreens are wiped off or sweated off. This is why sun damage and skin cancer are on the rise. Ideally, sunscreens should be applied every 1–2 hours.

There are also other precautions to take alongside continually reapplying sunscreen. For example, avoid sun exposure whenever possible and try to limit exposure to before 10 am and after 4 pm. It’s also recommended that if you do have a day of exposure, to follow this with a day of minimal or no exposure. What’s more, when you are exposed to the sun, wear protective clothing such as hats and long sleeves, to protect your skin.
