The Wigmore Medical team visited West Ham’s Chadwell Heath Training Ground to catch up with ZO Skin Health Ambassadors Grace Fisk, Maisy Barker, and Kateřina Svitková and learn more about their journey to healthy skin. The ambassadors have been following a ZO Skin Health regime, prescribed and tailored to their individual needs and skin concerns by Dr Raul Cetto, the team’s official Skin Consultant. Here is what the players had to share with us:

How has your new ZO skincare regime changed your attitude to skincare?

Grace: ZO has really helped me and taught me a lot of things about my skin which I didn’t know before. Dr Raul has been really helpful, teaching me what’s good and what’s bad for my skin.

Maisy: Seeing the improvement of my skin since using ZO has really motivated me to stick to my routine. If you stick to it, the products will work. It has pushed me to look after my skin a bit more and understand what I need to do to make sure my it is where I want it to be.

Kateřina: I feel the regime is much healthier. After the team showed me what my face would like when I’m 80, I just started putting more thought into what goes on my face every day.*

How did you previously look after your skin – what did you use?

Grace: I went through a lot of over-the-counter products. I didn’t really know what and when to use, what kind of products or active ingredients. ZO have been really helpful for me, they have medical science behind their products, so they are safe for me to use and have the right ingredients that help my skin and not harm it. It’s a big difference from what I was using before.

Maisy: I just used basic products, because I didn’t understand my skin that thoroughly. So, I’ve been speaking to the team at ZO to understand what I need for my skin, the products at ZO are so individual, I think that helps a lot.

Kateřina: would normally wash my face and that was all I did.

How does the regime fit into your lifestyle?

Grace: My new regime is quite intense – it’s an morning and evening routine. It takes commitment but ZO have made it really easy for me. It’s a step by step routine, I know when to use each product and it is a lot easier to follow.

Maisy: I’ve been using the products for about eight months, so I’m used to applying them morning and evening. It’s part of my morning routine now and it gets me ready for the day.

Kateřina: I like that it is a morning and evening routine, it doesn’t take too much time, it’s really easy to follow.

What’s the most useful thing you’ve learned since starting the regime?

Grace: The most useful thing is probably protection from the sun; making sure that I apply SPF protection even if it’s not sunny outside. The sun can harm your skin even through clouds and you don’t that long-term.

Maisy: Understanding that everyone’s skin is different and being patient with the products because they will work. But everyone reacts differently to products, so just being patient and working with the ZO team to make sure I get what’s right for my skin. Ultimately, what works for me might not work for someone else.

Kateřina: Before I got to learn about ZO Skin Health products, I didn’t really know I should care a bit more about my skin. Especially with sunscreen, I wasn’t aware that even if don’t get a sunburn, my skin can still get damaged. I

Four Players from West Ham United Women Named ZO Skin Health Ambassadors

Four West Ham United women’s team players have been named ambassadors for ZO Skin Health UK in a new initiative, aiming to promote good skin health habits.

ZO became the team’s official skincare partner and sponsor in 2019 and has since supported the players with expert skin health advice and tailored skincare regimes to give them the confidence to feel and play at their best. The new ambassadors, Grace Fisk, Katerina Svitkova, Maisy Barker, and Yui Hasegawa had their consultation with Dr Raul Cetto at Chadwell Heath training ground.

I enjoy working with the players and most importantly being able to educate them in preventing and reversing skin damage. They are high-performance athletes and skin is the largest organ in our body. It’s important that players look after it in the same way they look after their joints and diet”, said Dr Cetto who was appointed as the team’s first ever skin consultant back in 2019.

Using state-of-the-art scanning technology, ZO Skin Health team were able to examine the players skin in extreme detail and unveil signs of damage that are not yet visible to the naked eye. “We can identify the early signs of damage and reverse them with ZO Skin Health products that work at the cellular level”, explained Dr Cetto.

Football players experience all different types of weather conditions during the course of a season, their skin is exposed to harsh weather, air pollution, and UV rays. This is why antioxidants are a vital part of the players’ skincare regimes. ZO’s exclusive slow-release antioxidant complex is designed to combat oxidative stress and prevent free radical damage and strengthen the protective barrier function.

During the consultation, the four players shared that despite spending hours on the training ground every day, they often forget to apply SPF protection. While for many people sunscreen is synonymous with summer holidays and pool days, according to Dr Cetto, UV radiation is the number one aggressor to the skin and responsible for the majority of the visible signs of ageing.

Long-wavelength UVA rays are present year-round, they can penetrate the deeper layers of the skin and pass through clouds and glass. This is why Dr Cetto recommended ZO Skin Health’s Sunscreen + Powder SPF 30 as the last step in the ambassadors’ regimes. The powder is formulated with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to offer a physical protection against UVA and UVB rays, while the ZOX12® complex protects against free radical damage and and IR-A rays. Fractioned melanin protects against blue (HEV) light and gives a light buildable coverage. The compact brush format makes it easy and convenient to reapply sun protection throughout the day.

Hopefully, the players will be our future advocates for skin health. We want to create awareness especially amongst young people so that they know how to prevent skin damage and embrace good skin health habits which can be as simple as washing your face and applying sun protection regularly”, added Dr Cetto.

We will be keeping track on the progress of the players over the coming months, so make sure to follow ZO Skin Health UK on our Instagram and Facebook channels to never miss an update!
