What’s Your Basic Skin Type?
Follow these simple steps below for a quick and easy way to find out what your skin type is.
Step 1: WASH
First and foremost you need to wash your face, removing impurities such as excess oil, dirt, and makeup from your skin.
Step 2: WAIT
Do NOT apply any skin products. To accurately work out what your skin type is you need to leave it for 2 hours without using anything to allow your skin to return to its natural state.
Step 3: DISCOVER
Once the two hours have passed you can then work out what your skin type is.
- If your skin is feeling tight and is showing signs of flaking then you have dehydrated skin. Remember that having genuinely dry skin is very different to dehydrated skin. The latter is simply because of your skin’s addiction to moisturisers. While the former tends to also suffer from conditions such as dermatitis or eczema due to their dry skin. - If your skin looks shiny and feels slick to the touch then you have oily skin.
- Those with combination skin have both tight, flaky skin in places and oily in others; most commonly an oily T-zone.
- However, if you are lucky enough to show shows no signs of flaking, tightness or oiliness, then you have normal skin.
